Abstract

Liquid hydrocarbon fuels have high energy density but produce carbon dioxide during combustion. To reduce emissions, electric vehicles and carbon-free alternative fuels such as hydrogen are being developed. However, hydrogen raises concerns about safe storage. Anhydrous ammonia is a viable alternative with properties similar to liquid hydrocarbons, and can be easily liquefied and stored at 25°C with a pressure of about 10 bar. This article will introduce an overview of ammonia as an alternative fuel for gasoline engines
