RESEARCH TO DEVELOP THE EXTRACTING PROCESS COLOR SOLUTION FROM GUAVA LEAVES TO DYEING SILK

Abstract

Vietnam's textile industry are trended to develop domestic raw materials, especially materials that them and products of them are environmentally friendly. With the purpose of finding suitable conditions for extracting colorant solutions from guava leaves, this research investigated the conditions for extracting colorants from guava leaves using water solvents with influencing factors: Solvent ratio, temperature and time. The research results allow proposing a specific technological process for extracting colorants from guava leaves: Ratio: 1:5; Temperature: 70oC; Time: 60 minutes. After extraction, the solution is used to dye for silk fabric, the sample was taken SEM image to confirm the presence of colorant on the face of the sample, test color fastness to washing and colour fastness to sweat, the ∆E of both color fastness test was 0.58 and 0.67, that the fabric sample was high color fastness with two conditions of regular use.
