Abstract

In recent years, Vietnam's pharmaceutical retail market has become more vibrant and competitive than ever with the participation of big-name corporations such as Pharmacity, Long Chau, and An Khang. Faced with competitive pressure, traditional private pharmacies have three options, either expanding investment to meet market demand or needing to link up with retail pharmacies to form large groups, chains, and associations to improve competitiveness or be eliminated. The study has pointed out four factors that affect the decision to invest in expanding the supply of drugs of private pharmacies in Hanoi city, which are the factors of service facilities, owner characteristics, external environmental factors, and legal policy system factors.
